Last month (can’t believe it’s been a month already) I went to Jamaica for the first time with family and it was an incredible experience (shout out to momz for the pictures). I experienced every colour imaginable and so vivid, the people are warm and the food… good lord, the food.
I want people to see it’s not just sand that makes up Jamaica. The greenery is like no other, and I was so fortunate to have my cousin take me up Blue Mountain to see real fruit like banana, coconut, avocado, mango and more hanging from the trees afresh, and tasted coffee cherries whilst getting to take the roasted kind from her farm, home.
I’m going to miss such blue skies, my skin getting all the more golden and I’ve never received SO MANY compliments on my hair. It’s truly a place to come as you are, you are taken as that and your true beauty felt and it was a pleasure meeting and feeling welcomed by family and friends.
We stayed at the Grand Palladium Resort and Spa. The grounds were vast and amenities aplenty, I felt well looked after even though there were a few bumps! But I think that’s more down to such a large group going, there was bound to be something to catch one of us. I would definitely go again as there’s so much on, location is pretty perf and everyone is accommodating.
Can you spot the lizard?
Unfortunately Hurricane Matthew put a stop to many of our plans; we were very lucky to actually have the hurricane divert at the last minute leaving us only with a few spots of rain but when the rain stopped there it was like it never started and the weather was still hot. So, I couldn’t venture out much toward the end of the holiday but to me it means all the more excuse to go again.
I need to experience the rivers and go into the town more as well as some more sand strutting and sun worshipping. I ate non stop steak, jerk chicken, rice and peas, patties and drank fruit punch and rum slushies. I danced and I mean DANCED- every song felt like a pulse it was brilliant. It actually just felt like home comforts really, a place to be you.
I was bitten a treat! but even that won’t keep me away.
Hope you like the few snaps I managed to capture, let me know of your favourite getaways, what holidays have made you feel like home?
